Coyaba Beach Resort & Club

Hotel Information: "Coyaba," an Arawak word for a place of ease and rest, aptly captures the resort's appeal. A small lobby with mahogany accents, ceiling fans, and wicker chairs exemplifies its Colonial style. (Note: From December 22 through January 6, the resort does not accept children under 12 years of age.)

Amenity highlights: Amenities at Coyaba Beach Resort & Club include a swimming pool and elevated 10-person spa tub. The palm-tree-lined sundeck is furnished with cushioned lounge chairs and bordered by a shaded hammock. Thatched shelters dot 150 meters (500 feet) of crescent beachfront, and two floating rafts are tethered in calm water; complimentary amenities include non-motorized watersports. A freshwater pool and spa tub are on site. One floodlit tennis court and a full fitness facility are also offered. The resort offers a gift shop, three à la carte restaurants, and three bars. Daily afternoon tea is served, and the classically trained executive chef offers New Caribbean cuisine and international favorites.

Insider tip: The best spots for viewing sunsets are from several Adirondack chairs set toward the end of the resort's 150-foot wooden dock.

Coyaba beach Resort & Club offers 50 guestrooms of 47–54 square meters (500–575 square feet) in three three-story (no elevators), cream-colored buildings with red-tile roofs arrayed around a fountain courtyard graced by Royal palm trees and cushioned teak benches.

Rooms feature French doors leading to large balconies or patios furnished with two-chair dining sets. Ceiling fans offer a cooling alternative to rooms' air conditioning. Televisions offer U.S. cable channels, combination radio/CD players, and VCRs (rental tapes available).

Plantation-style decor includes hand-carved mahogany furniture, gilt-framed botanical prints, floral fabrics, cream-colored walls, and terra-cotta-tile floors. Bathrooms feature burnt-chocolate marble floors, shower/tub combinations lined in creamy marble, and speckled-tan granite vanities in dressing areas.

Complimentary water is provided upon arrival only. Rollaway beds are available (surcharge).
